Exercise is generally superior for relieving Sciatic Pain than bed rest during the pain flare ups. Patients may rest for a day or two but after that stretch of time, immobility will usually make the pain worse. Devoid of exercise and movement, the back muscles and spinal structures become out of working order and less able to support the back. The weakening can show the way to back injury and strain, which causes extra pain.
