Calories are just a measurement tool, like inches or ounces, they measure the energy, a food or beverage provides to our body. Calorie is the approximate amount of energy needed to raise the temperature of one gram of water by one degree Celsius, if the measure is in grams then it is called Gram Calorie and if in Kilograms then it is called Kilo-Calories.
